Creativity with purpose

Creative Technology & Design (CT&D) is a collection of innovative courses developed with the future of design education in mind. The mission of this specialized subject area is to elevate students’ understanding of advanced design concepts, as well as their command of cutting-edge technologies. Student learning outcomes from the creative technology courses enable them to work in some of the fastest growing areas in digital design, such as user experience design, digital content design, and digital product design. CT&D’s pedagogical goal is to nurture the next generation of creative technologists who will design digital content, products, platforms, experiences, and other solutions that leverage technology to solve business problems and to improve people’s lives.

CT&D offers specialized courses throughout School of Art and Design majors and is also available to students from the School of Business and Technology and the School of Liberal Arts through the minor in Creative Technology.

Within the Advertising & Digital Design BFA program, CT&D courses comprise the core related area coursework in the major. Additionally, CT&D principles and teaching methodologies have developed noncredit certificate programs in User Experience Design and the Digital Product Design Summer program in Italy.

With design innovation at the heart of CT&D's pedagogical goals, courses from this subject area completely align with FIT’s Strategic Plan. CT&D’s faculty and students strive to produce transformative work that fosters positive social change. We believe designers are innovators, activists, and visionaries, and we live not only by our commitment to our clients but also by our commitment to our community and society.
