Program Differences

Precollege Programs are academic experiences that introduce students in grades 7-12 to the industries FIT serves, its majors, and the overall college experience. Students study with FIT faculty, alumni and industry guest instructors and may choose from our long-format programs (11 sessions) and our short-format programs (4 sessions).

Workshops

Precollege Workshops take place over four sessions. Workshops are fun, short programs that introduce you to some of the unusual and creative topics that we specialize in at FIT. During a workshop, you will learn a specific skill or technique.

Workshops are a great way to “dip your toes in the water,” develop a hobby or interest, or focus on a topic very specific within an industry.  For example, The Fabulous World of Fashion Forecasting discusses just one possible career you can explore in the Fashion Business Management major.

Saturday/Sunday/Summer Live

Saturday Live, Sunday Live, and Summer Live courses are more intensive and take place over 11 sessions throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students in these programs experience courses offered by academic departments that closely resemble the undergraduate college experience. Age-appropriate content immerses students into specific majors while helping them develop portfolio pieces and well-informed college essays.  If you’re serious about applying to FIT, these are the courses for you!
