Where is the library?
The FIT Library is located on the 4th, 5th, and 6th Floors of the Goodman Resource Center (E Building), 27th Street at Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10001.  The library entrance is on the 5th floor accessible by elevator in the Goodman Center. An internal staircase provides access to 4th and 6th floors.
If you are unable to use stairs in the library please ask for elevator assistance at any library service desk.  Library staff can provide an elevator escort.

Who can use the library?
Anyone with a valid FIT or SUNY ID card — current FIT  and SUNY students, faculty, administrators and staff members -- can use the FIT Library at any time.
Access to the library is restricted for everyone else -- including students at other colleges and universities, researchers, alumni/former FIT students, and for the general public. Please see Visit the Library for details.

Do I need anything to get into the library?
A valid FIT ID is required for entry into all college buildings, including the Goodman Center (E building) which houses the library. 
Non-FIT visitors (including alumni) must have an appointment and be on the Security Visitor List for entry in the lobby of the Goodman Resource Center (E Building). For more details, please see Visit the Library.

How do I find and contact a specific library unit?

HOW DO I ...

See what items I have checked out of the library and/or renew items I’ve checked out?
Renewals are done through My Account, also accessible via the OneSearch Library Catalog.  Materials can be renewed on or before their due date. Details on length of borrowing, renewals, and fines are found on the Circulation Services page.

Find course materials on reserve?
The FIT Library's OneSearch Library Catalog  lists items on reserve using author and /or title of the specific book/DVD, name or number of your course or your instructor's last name. See our Reserves page for more detailed instructions. Remember that the library does not have every item that you might need for your classes.

Where's Stylecat, the library's online catalog?
Stylecat has been retired as of July 2019. We now have a more integrated library material search called OneSearch; it lets you look for books, e-books, journals, online articles and more, all with one search.

What happened to the "Digital Library"?
We hope you find our Databases lists easy to use. You can easily find a specific database you need or have used before in the A-Z list, by browsing our lists of Databases by subject or type, or by searching.

How can I use databases from off-campus?
Start with the list of Databases. You'll need to login with your FIT user name and password to use any of them, then follow any other instructions (e.g. individual registration, a second login) that some require. Be sure to click on the + (plus sign) that appears next to database name to see more info you may need to log in (e.g. another password, registration instructions, etc)

What information do I need to access the library databases, on campus and off?
Use the same FIT network user name & password that you use for MYFIT, your FIT email, logging in to campus computers, Blackboard, etc. 
Any additional instructions or password information needed for some databases will be supplied to you after you log in.
Be sure to click on the + (plus sign) that appears next to each database name to see more info you may need to log in (e.g. another password, registration instructions, etc)

I don't know my FIT username or password or it’s just not working for me today. Can I use different information to access the databases?
No. Our databases are licensed for use remotely only by current FIT students and employees, so you must always use your own user name & password to sign in to our system; there are no other ways to connect to the system remotely.

Why do I get the error messages like “not authorized to access this database” or “Sorry, the information you submitted was invalid”?
If you are a current student or employee and are getting error messages, check out our Database FAQ & Troubleshooter.
If you are not currently enrolled or working at FIT (this includes FIT alumni), see Online Resources for Non-FIT Students Commercial database vendors require that the FIT Library restrict remote access to currently-enrolled FIT students, faculty, or staff so expired and alumni accounts won't work.
