Parent Activities

While children are in class, FIT invites parents to wait on campus in one of our lobby lounges, take a summer non-credit course, or simply explore our neighborhood. Parents do not need to wait for children, but if you’d like to, here’s what we recommend.

FIT Lobby Lounges

The Dubinsky lobby lounge is adjacent to our FIT Dining Hall and Starbucks. The Business and Liberal Arts lobby lounge has vending machines, charging stations, and restrooms. Parents are invited to relax in either of these spaces and can use our FIT guests Wi-Fi. Contact Precollege Programs for username and password access. Take a virtual tour here.

Visit The Museum at FIT

The Museum at FIT opens at noon most days. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, it is one of a select group of specialized fashion museums, including the Muse de la Mode, the Mode Museum, and the Museo de la Moda.  It creates exhibitions, programs, and publications that are both entertaining and educational. The mission of the Museum is to advance knowledge of fashion through exhibitions, programs and publications.

Take a Course

FIT’s Center for Continuing and Professional Studies offers noncredit courses for Precollege parents. Learn computer skills, fashion history and trends, take a walking tour, and more! Learn more about noncredit courses for adults.
