Spring HS 4-Day Workshop Supply Lists

High school workshops are offered remotely through Google Classroom and in-person on the FIT campus. Please review the required supplies for each course, as some courses will need students to acquire software, equipment, or tools for full participation.

TIPS ON GATHERING SUPPLIES FOR YOUR CLASS

Classes and Required Materials

HSX026  Perfecting Your Art Portfolio 

  • Drawing pencils 6B, 2B, HB, 6H
  • Kneaded and Regular erasers
  • Drawing Paper Pad: 18” x 24”
  • Sketchbook: your own personal sketchbook (to review with instructor)
  • Charcoal and/or Charcoal pencils
  • Oil Pastels or Oil sticks (primary colors, white and black)
  • Pastel pencils or Conté pencils (full color spectrum)

HSX080 Character Creation for Comic Books and Gaming

  • Drawing/sketch pad (8.5”x11” or 9”x12”)
  • Any kind of pencil (drawing or regular #2)
  • An eraser
  • Black ink pens or markers (fine line preferred)
  • Color media - crayons, markers or watercolor paint
  • Notebook (paper or digital) is optional
  • (Class survey to determine availability of digital drawing tools)
  • OPTIONAL: iPad, desktop or laptop equipped with drawing software: Photoshop, ClipStudio Paint, or Procreate

HSX084 Designing a Fashion Mini-Collection (in person and remote)

  • Notebook
  • Tracing pad (11”x14”)
  • Artists pencils (HB/B/3B and 6B)
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Current month issue of your favorite fashion magazine(s)
  • Berol Prismacolor colored pencils: Black/Brown/Red- PC923 Scarlet Lake/ 1 Grey

HSX088 Simply Sewing

  • Dressmaker Scissors- 8-10” (Fiskers, Gingher, Wiss or Mundial are the best)
  • Dressmaker pins
  • Seam ripper
  • Tape measure
  • Large Safety Pin
  • C ruler (Westcott size 1x12, 2x12, 1x18 or 2x18)
  • Thread (Cotton, Poly, or PolyCotton blend, best type is on wooden spool, no plastic capping on top/bottom as it can get stuck while sewing)
  • Notebook (For taking notes, welcome to use phone)
  • Pencils

HSX096 Week in the Life of a Fashion Designer

  • Laptops for online research (optional)
  • Hard copy of your favorite fashion magazine  
  • 14” x 11” Sketchbook that can be used with markers (Recommended: Canson Field Sketch Art Book)
  • 1 mechanical pencil
  • 1 HB pencil
  • Hand sharpener
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • White eraser
  • Hand sharpener

  • Soft Aquarelle Pencils (Recommended: Caran d'Ache Supracolor Soft Aquarelle Pencils)
    • 1 black
    • 1 white
  • Double ended art markers (Recommended: Prismacolor premier double ended art markers)
    • Black
    • Choose ONE preferred flesh tone marker:
      • Suggested colors available from Prismacolor Markers: Pale peach, Eggshell, Brick beige, Light Peach, Sand, Light Walnut
    • Choose any other colors that you love but this is not required
    • If you do not have any markers then consider purchasing a basic starter set: Prismacolor Premier Double-Ended Art Marker Set - Primary/ Secondary Colors, Set of 12
  • Colored Pencils variety pack (Recommended: Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils)
    • If you do not have any colored pencils then consider purchasing a basic set of 12
  • Fine point black technical pen (Recommended:Sakura Pigma Micron Pen 03 Black)

*Students are encouraged to use any markers or colored pencils that they have on hand that could aid in rendering their sketches. They are NOT required to buy any for the class except what is included on the list above.

  • Paper: One box of 50 sheet, resin coated, pearl RC paper, 8”x10” - Do not open the box!
