Future // Forward
Grounded in FIT's mission and values, our strategic planning process leverages our existing strengths and unique position. We are committed to an inclusive process that actively seeks out diverse internal and external perspectives.
Message from the President
As the world’s largest global investment in the talent pool for the creative economy,
FIT is uniquely positioned to be the laboratory for creative careers for the 21st
century. We sit at the center of academic research, innovation, and technology, and
we give the industries that we serve exactly what they need to be at the cutting edge.
It is not enough that we partner with industry—we must lead.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of FIT Future // Forward. This collaborative visioning process for the future of FIT will start with deep listening. We want to hear from you, all of FIT’s stakeholders, both internally and externally. I know there are challenges right now and our industries are disrupted. However, I also know that together we will launch ourselves into a bright future.
We cannot do this alone. Your voice is critical. As we roll out this initiative over the next year, please get involved. If you have any ideas or thoughts, large or small, please let us know. There will be many ways to participate. Working together, I look forward to shaping the future of our college, our community, and the creative industries we serve, both here and around the world.
Jason S. Schupbach
President of FIT
Objectives
FIT’s strategic plan will be designed to ensure our continued excellence and relevance by addressing both current and future industry trends that benefit our community and industry partners. The plan will feature actionable, measurable goals and include clear structures for accountability. Further, we aim for flexibility that will allow us to quickly adapt to new priorities upon implementation.
Timeline
The Future // Forward planning process is underway and is expected to take about a year to complete. Nominations are being collected for the steering committee and the request for proposals (RFP) has been released to hire a strategic planning firm. Once the firm is hired, the following phases will occur:
- discovery and assessment
- drafting of goals and strategies
- finalization of the plan
The Board of Trustees is scheduled to approve the final plan in late spring 2027.

Request for Proposal
A formal request for proposal (RFP) process began April 1. A consultant will be selected
in June.
