Why Training is Important: FIT is required by law to disclose statistics regarding the existence of certain crimes
that were reported to either local law enforcement or to any official of the institution
who is defined as a Campus Security Authority (“CSA”). This training helps CSAs understand
their roles and responsibilities as it pertains to Clery Act Compliance, and safety,
at FIT.
Who Should Take This Training: Any FIT employee who has been designated as a CSA (“an official of an institution
who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including, but
not limited to, student housing, student discipline and campus judicial proceedings.
An official is defined as any person who has the authority and the duty to take action
or respond to particular issues on behalf of the institution.”

are also provided.

Why Training is Important: These interactive workshops will help us improve our cultural competencies, identify
the values of diversity, create an environment of inclusion, understand implicit bias,
and teach us empathy. Participants will engage in activities designed to improve
these skills for use in everyday work and life and understand how they can be tools
of transformation. Mandatory online training is provided as a foundational tool to
supplement these workshops, as a part of the collaborative training effort at FIT

Why Training is Important: This training addresses important legal terms related to the Family Educational Rights
and Privacy Act (FERPA), general responsibilities of staff and faculty under FERPA,
FERPA’s rules regarding confidentiality and disclosure, and the rights of students
to access and inspect their own education records kept by FIT. As FIT employees and
faculty members, it is crucial to understand FERPA so we are able to properly protect
student education records.

work environment. It provides an overview of best practices to help us manage a diverse
environment, avoid discriminatory behavior, and create a culture that embraces acceptance
and respect for all. This training is foundational, and is part of a collaborative
effort with the Title IX/Affirmative Action Office, where live Equity and Inclusion
Training is provided to further engage employees with this important topic.

Why Training is Important: Sexual harassment can have lasting effects for individuals, the college, and the
community, such as psychological trauma; a hostile work environment; damaged reputations;
negative publicity; civil liability; and even criminal charges. Employees must understand
their roles and obligations if they experience or witness such behavior at work. The
training is designed to provide employees and faculty with a basic understanding of
sexual harassment, strategies to maintain a harassment-free working environment, and
methods to report safely. This training is foundational and is part of a collaborative
