Biography

Patrick Yanez teaches international trade, global marketing, and economics. He has taught at NYC Technical College, Kingsborough Community College (CUNY), and Marymount Manhattan College, and is a former president of the NY Computer Society and former system operator (SYSOP) of METRO-BBS, one of the first electronic bulletin boards in New York City.

Prior to his current faculty appointment at FIT, Yanez served as the Director of the Business & Industry Training Center at NYC Technical College (CUNY) where he developed training programs for the NY/NJ Port Authority at the World Trade Center, the New York State banking industry, IBM, NY Telephone, General Motors, Bear Stearns, Mount Sinai Medical Center, AT&T, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, Teachers Insurance Annuity Association (TIAA), Jamaica Hospital, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, The Depository Trust Company, and various other private and public institutions.

As an Associate Editor of Business Latin America, a trade publication of Business International Corporation owned by The Economist, Yanez covered Brazil and provided economic analysis on Latin America. He has authored courses on global marketing, international logistics, and college senior field trips focusing on fashion, textile, and apparel aspects of regional trade agreements, such as the European Union, NAFTA, CAFTA, MEFTA, ASEAN, APEC, and MERCOSUR.

Yanez served two terms as ITM Chairperson from 2001 until 2007. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Politics, Economics, and Society from SUNY College at Old Westbury and an MBA from SUNY Empire State College.
