Biography
In addition to her degree from the University of Oregon, Valerie Soll has completed specialized training in rug restoration in Ankara, Turkey. For the past 19 years, she has been the textile conservator at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, with a specialty in conservation dyeing. Soll has taught dye-related courses at FIT, NYU, and Parsons and teaches collections management and basic conservation courses in the graduate program at FIT. Soll is also a reweaving expert and does rug workshops for FIT's advanced conservation students. She is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation and the Textile Society of America.
