Learn how to use technology to enhance the overall class experience. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice or a veteran user of technology, we will learn how to research new technologies, how to find the right tool for the job, how to overcome technological anxieties (technophobia), how to leverage technology to become a more effective, efficient, and engaging teacher and most importantly the purposeful use of technology.

Teachers or professionals who are looking to teach online, face to face, or blended courses, and who are looking to dabble with technology in education. If you are looking to spice up your course with technology then this is the course for you.

Technology Requirements

  • High-speed internet connection
  • A laptop or desktop computer that is capable of running the latest browser and streaming media
  • Built-in or external webcam and speakers

Meet Our Faculty

Jose Diaz

Jose Diaz
Manager, Online Learning, FIT

Prior to joining FIT, José worked at the Center for Teaching and Learning at Columbia University, where he worked one-on-one with faculty and learning designers to develop MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). José also worked with the video team and he helped film and edit videos. José has worked on several MOOCs like: The Civil War and Reconstruction with Professor Eric Foner, Big Data in Education with Professor Ryan Baker, The Science of Learning: What every teacher should know with Professor Pearl Rock Kane, Corporate Finance with Professor Daniel Wolfenstein, and many others.

José currently holds the position of Manager of Online Learning at the Fashion Institute of Technology SUNY, where he helps faculty develop their online courses and implement the purposeful use of technology in the online learning environment. He is currently the SUNY FACT2 campus representative for FIT.

José has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree from Baruch College, CUNY in Computer Information Systems, and an MA in Educational/Instructional Technology from Adelphi University.

José is also an avid videographer, web developer, basketball enthusiast, and enjoys working together with faculty one-on-one.
