She co-chairs, as well, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Standard 5 committee. Other committees on which she has served or currently serves include the Chairs Council, the Continuing Education Faculty Senate Committee, the Library Faculty Senate Committee, ,Tenure and Promotion Committees for a variety of departments and the Sustainability Faculty Senate Committee---among others.
Prior to FIT, Professor Maher spent almost 20 years in the manufacturing and retail sectors of the home industries field. She arrived at FIT from Hanover Direct, Inc., an international home products corporation based in New Jersey, where she was senior vice president for product development and sourcing. With extensive experience in merchandising, product development, sourcing and strategy, she continues to be active in the industry as a product development consultant.
Professor Maher earned her BA, summa cum laude, in Fashion Marketing & Merchandising from Marymount University in Arlington, Va., her MA in Integrated Marketing Communications at Marist College and a higher education Teaching Certificate from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard.
