HFA 024 55A AM Basic Life Drawing(Prof. James Reid)

COURSE MATERIALS-OPENING DAY: Pencils and a sharpener, or charcoal pencils, or conte crayons. An ordinary pencil such as one uses to do arithmetic is fine. An eraser (any kind) Drawing pad:  The paper may be any size between 11 x 14 and 18 x 24 inches. For charcoal or conte crayon newsprint is okay, but newsprint doesn't receive pencil well. Also note that newsprint will eventually turn brittle and deteriorate. If the pad is large (18 x 24) you will probably need a drawing board to place behind it for firmness, and a couple of clips to fasten the pad to the board. A piece of foam core the same size as the pad makes a good, lightweight drawing board.  Also bring a cheap notepad for taking notes and doing quick sketches.
COURSE MATERIALS-ADDITIONAL: Students may use other materials (such as ink) if they so desire.
