HID 021 Introduction to Drawing for Interior Design
You will learn traditional technical drawing techniques using the tools of the trade (T-square, architectural scale ruler, triangles, templates, etc.) with a focus on interior spaces. HID 029 Intermediate Drawing for Interior Design (Level 2: Pre-req HID 021 )
Bring your flat elevations and floor plans to life using advanced drawing techniques. Learn how use shade, shadow, and line to create soft surfaces such as upholstery and hard surfaces such as stone, wood, and marble. You will be introduced to observational sketching and skills used by interior designers to fully illustrate your concepts. Gallery
HID 030 Interior Design Studio (Level 3: Pre-req HID 021 and 029)
Learn how the interior design process works from concept to client presentation. You will create a project for a specific client to include a floor plan, elevations, colored renderings, as well as surface and furniture samples. You will be introduced to the many resources available to the NYC designer and will source samples of your selections to be included on final client presentation boards. During the summer semester (only), students may take field trips to showrooms.
HID 031 Portfolio Skills for Interior Designers
Learn how to see and think like an interior designer. Create observational perspective drawings of interior spaces, create a concept sketchbook for your original ideas, and construct a 3D interior model. This course covers many of the unique portfolio requirements found in various interior design programs.
