Academic building access
Business & Liberal Arts, Dubinsky, Feldman, Goodman, Joyce F. Brown Academic Building, Pomerantz, and 236 W 27th Street
The college campus will maintain designated hours of operation to ensure a safe, accessible, and productive environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Regular Campus Hours for Academic Buildings (excluding approved studio and lab classrooms)
- Monday through Friday: 7 am–11 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 7 am–8 pm
Studio and lab access
Students are required to make a reservation prior to their arrival on campus.

Designated studios and lab facilities are accessible during the following hours:
- Monday through Friday: 7 am–1 am (fall & spring)
- Saturday and Sunday: 7 am–8 pm (fall & spring)
These hours are subject to change based on academic schedules, holidays, and special events. Exceptions to these hours will be communicated in advance.
Faculty and Staff access
Faculty and staff who need campus access outside of the standard operating hours must receive prior approval from the Vice President of their designated area. All approved requests must be sent to the Director of Public Safety or their designee at least 24 hours in advance.
Holiday closures
The college will be closed on all recognized holidays. During these closures, access to labs and studios will be restricted. The hours of operation for the Gladys Marcus Library and The Museum at FIT may vary. Please visit their respective webpages for the most up-to-date information.
Recognized holidays include:
- Rosh Hashanah
- Yom Kippur
- Thanksgiving Day (Reservations for designated Studios/Lab classrooms are available for Friday-Sunday)
- Day preceding Christmas
- Christmas Day
- College-designated days between Christmas and New Year’s
- Day preceding New Year’s Day
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Presidents’ Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth
- Independence Day
- All summer Friday closings (dates to be published annually by the Division of Human Resources and Labor Relations)
Leased property administrative office spaces
333 7th Avenue and 236 West 27th Street
During school closing, only essential personnel and approved staff may enter College buildings.
Hours of Operation:
- 333 Seventh Avenue: Monday - Friday 8 am–10 pm
- 236 West 27th Street: Monday - Friday 8 am–6 pm
Access to the leased property outside normal business hours must be coordinated through Public Safety.
