Summer Housing

FIT Summer Housing applications will open on March 11, 2026 via the Student Housing Portal. All FIT students will be housed in Kaufman Hall for the duration of summer session from May 21 to August 8, 2026.

Room Types & Assignments

Students will apply for a room type and be assigned by Residential Life shortly after completing their application. If you are interested in a double room, you can add roommate requests to your application. Prices below are per student for the dates of May 21, 2026 to August 8, 2026.

  • Kaufman Single Apartment: $7,500 
  • Kaufman Double Apartment: $5,500

Moving Timeline

The transition from Spring to Summer is very quick both in terms of when and how long you have to complete the move-over.

  • We will notify students anytime between May 22 and June 6 that their summer room is ready.
  • We generally ask for completion of the move-over within 24-36 hours so that we can turn the spaces over in a timely manner. 

August Stay

This summer, FIT students who also have a Fall 2026 Housing Assignment, may remain in housing between August 8, 2026 and our opening weekend. This is an additional $500 and can be opted in or out of during the time of application or by emailing our office at [email protected] until July 15, 2026. Some conditions apply:

  • Students must have fall housing to remain in the halls
  • Students must be available to move to their Fall assignment between August 8, 2026 and August 15, 2026.
  • During this time there is cleaning and building preparations that may cause noise and/or disruptions

Opting Out

  • Any student who does not wish to remain in housing during August will need to fully vacate their summer space by August 8.
  • No items will be stored or are permitted to be left behind between August 8 and move in weekend.
  • Students are not permitted to store or hold onto belongings that are not their own property in their rooms.

Change of Plans

If at any point your summer plans change and you need to withdraw your application you will be subject to a $250 withdrawal penalty fee. After May 21, 2026 you are subject to the fee and a daily pro-rated refund of your housing regardless of whether you moved into the room or not.

This goes into effect from the time you submitted your application, even if payment has not been made on your summer room.

Between March 11 and July 15, students may opt in or out of the August Stay option at no penalty. After July 15, decision are locked in and no refunds will be granted.
