The 2025 Master Plan Update (or the Master Plan) will incorporate and update the conclusions and recommendations from FIT’s existing 2015 Master Plan as well as the 2022–2027 Strategic Plan and will be used as a guide for the development of future capital improvements, and to maximize opportunities for funding, support community partnerships, and elevate campus life.

FIT has produced a campus master plan every 10 years, in 1995, 2005, and 2015. The planning processes involved a collaborative effort between faculty, staff, and students. A framework of short- and long-term facilities projects will be developed to ensure that the built environment evolves to complement shifts in pedagogy, curriculum, industry, technology, and culture.

At the conclusion of the process, we will have a road map for our next 10 years of capital projects aligned to the strategic initiatives and core values of FIT. The Master Plan will be guided by senior leadership and a steering committee, appointed by the president, with several user groups that will be engaged in an advisory capacity. There will be opportunities for the entire campus to engage and contribute throughout the process, starting in September 2025.

Campus Plan Engagement: How can you get involved?

The Master Plan will include multiple opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to participate and lend their voices to through engagement exercises that promote inclusion and collaboration. The workshops, surveys, and interactive exercises provide opportunities for campus and community stakeholders to envision a campus that reinforces FIT’s commitment to achieving its strategic goals.

User groups discussions will be an important part of the planning process, representing a thoughtful cross section of the campus community in several key areas, including classroom/instructional spaces, academic support, student services, administrative services, facilities, technology, and public safety.

Stay tuned to hear more about upcoming engagement workshops and community sessions!
