Orientation FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
A detailed schedule will be shared via email in early August. Once released students can access the orientation schedule three additional ways:
- via paper schedule (picked up at check-in or at the Orientation Headquarters located in the Dubinsky Student Center Lobby)
- by downloading the CORQ app on your device and searching for "Fashion Institute of Technology" (it will not populate if you search as "FIT"). Then locate the schedule for your academic school (i.e. School of Business and Technology, Art and Design, Liberal Arts and Sciences).
- by visiting FITLink on a desktop/laptop/phones browser at fitnyc.campuslabs.com/engage
Orientation is mandatory for all new students: if you have a conflict be sure to attend as many sessions as you can as Orientation is designed to facilitate your transition to FIT smoothly and there will be no makeup options.
New Student Orientation is a full two days of programming geared towards our academic and social success while at FIT. Please anticipate staying on campus from 9am to 6pm each day.
Students were sent an email from [email protected] with their orientation group number and check-in location to their FIT email address.
- Groups 1 -16: Fred P. Pomerantz Art & Design Center Lobby
- Groups 17 - 32: Dubinsky Breezeway
Two (2) Orientation Leaders are assigned to each group number. Check your FIT email for your Orientation Group number and OL name. You will be able to meet your OL and exchange contact info during the OL Group Meetup.
Lunch during your assigned Orientation is FREE and you do not need to use your meal plan. You can use your meal plan during all other times of the day.
Students should check in in the location that corresponds with the first letter of their last name:
- Groups 1 -16: Fred P. Pomerantz Art & Design Center Lobby
- Groups 17 - 32: Dubinsky Breezeway
Residents: If you uploaded your photo in advance you will receive your FIT ID card when you check in at your residence hall for move in.
Commuters: If you uploaded your photo in advance you will receive it at Orientation
For students who still need to take an ID photo, you will have the opportunity to take your photo during schedule times at Orientation or during the first week of classes. There is no need to miss any orientation program as your class schedule or physical orientation schedule can temporarily get you access to non-residential campus buildings.
