Creative Technology and Design

Creativity with purpose

Creative Technology and Design (CT&D) is a collection of innovative courses developed with the future of design education in mind. The mission of this specialized subject area is to elevate students’ understanding of advanced design concepts and command of cutting-edge technologies. The skills and knowledge students gain in creative technology courses enable them to work in some of the fastest-growing areas in digital design, such as user experience design, digital content design, and digital product design. Our goal is to nurture the next generation of designers who will design digital content, products, platforms, experiences, and other solutions that leverage technology to improve people’s lives by solving complex business and/or sociological problems.

CT&D offers specialized courses relevant to all School of Art and Design majors. Courses are also available to students in the School of Business and Technology and the School of Liberal Arts through minors in Creative Technology, Multi-sensory Branding, and Digital Typography.

In the Advertising and Digital Design BFA major, the core related area coursework consists of CT&D courses. Students in the major can choose to specialize in brand experience design (UX, UI, and digital product design) or creative advertising (art direction, copywriting, and strategy planning.)

We believe designers are innovators, activists, and visionaries, and we live by our commitment not only to our clients but also to our community and society. Our faculty and students strive to produce transformative work that fosters positive social change.
