Kip Chapelle

Adjunct Associate Professor | Fashion Design MFA

Kip Chapelle learned tailoring from his father who worked with seamstress Rosa Parks during the Montgomery protests. He has worked with Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, and Geoffrey Beene, among others. He co-founded Rubin & Chapelle in 1997; the line quickly became a sought-after brand with numerous celebrity clients and international retail clients. Among the first designers to establish a retail presence in New York’s Meatpacking District, Rubin & Chapelle were catalysts in shaping Manhattan’s fashion landscape. The partners opened their second retail store in Malibu.

Chapelle has received a number of awards and nominations from institutions, including a Senatorial Citation, The Smithsonian, and Fashion Group International. In 2011, he was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Chapelle’s designs have appeared in numerous publications including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and The New York Times.

Chapelle studied at Ohio State University and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Fashion Design from Fashion Institute of Technology.
