FITxSJC Latinx Fashion Networking Event
The symposium ¡Moda Hoy! Latin American and Latinx Fashion allowed for curators Tanya Melendez-Escalante and Melissa Marra-Alvarez to engage with the general public and the academic community. The speakers explored the work of fashion designers of Latin American heritage, shedding new light on Latin American and Latinx fashion.
Topics included politics, sustainability, art, Indigenous heritage, gender, and popular
culture.
Through the collaboration with the Social Justice Center for the MFIT x SJC Latinx
Fashion Networking Event the exhibition also helped cultivate a culture within the
College that allows its students and affiliates to grow and continuously give back
to our/the community, creating spaces for Latinx and BIPOC individuals to thrive.
