Lia Lowenthal

Lia Lowenthal is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in New York City. Working between photography, sculpture, and design, Lowenthal mines how various modes of reproduction are infused with a social history, and perform as an epistemological prism of desire and industry.

Lowenthal is the founder and principal of a jewelry line, LL, LLC, which collaborates with the historic William Spratling Workshop in Taxco, Mexico, which merges start-up methodologies with artisan histories and techniques, and is carried by retailers nationwide. Her work has been exhibited nationally, at venues such as Socrates Sculpture Park (NY), Richard Telles Fine Art (Los Angeles), 321 Gallery (Brooklyn), and Art in General (New York). Her practice has been written about in Vogue, The New Yorker, and Architectural Digest, among others.

Lowenthal earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Bard College and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art and German Studies at UCLA.
