Eveline Baseggio-Omiccioli, PhD

Biography

Dr. Eveline Baseggio Omiccioli has been a member of the department since 2014. Her classes on the History of Western Art & Civilization and Baroque Art draw attention to a global and cross-cultural context. She has worked extensively in a number of art museums in New York and New Jersey, namely the Morgan Library & Museum, The Frick Collection, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Zimmerli Art Museum. Her experience as a fellow, research and curatorial assistant, docent and lecturer in the aforementioned institutions, has refined the object-oriented and interdisciplinary approach that she applies to both her teaching and her research.

Dr. Baseggio Omiccioli is currently working on two book projects: “Crisis and Rebirth: Venice 1490–1510,” which is based on her doctoral dissertation and examines the intertwining of Venice’s spirituality and politics from the unexplored perspective of the influential Servite community at the turn of the sixteenth century; and “A City with no Saints: a Pilgrimage to Venice,” which has been supported by a grant from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation and studies the image of Venice as a New Jerusalem and a votive destination itself.
