With over 25 years of experience as a fashion designer and entrepreneur, instructor Kathlin Argiro has become a Web3 and metaverse evangelist. She applies her real-world perspective to this burgeoning new space to identify which Web3 technologies can be used to address the business challenges of the fashion industry today including returns, authentication, and secondary market value capture. Argiro leverages her vast fashion industry network to bring top industry experts in Web3 and the metaverse into the course as guest speakers, so students can gain an insider's perspective on how these cutting-edge technologies are shaping the future of the fashion industry.

Kathlin Argiro
Adjunct Professor, Global Fashion Management, Fashion Institute of Technology

Kathlin Argiro is a fashion designer and entrepreneur whose collection has been carried by Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and over 500 top specialty stores throughout the world. Her dresses have been featured in Vogue, Today, In Style, WWD, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. 

In 2014, she launched her consulting business, Kathlin Argiro New York, to leverage her long-standing industry connections to support emerging fashion talent. In 2022 she added Web3/metaverse strategy to her consulting practice to advise fashion brands on leveraging burgeoning technologies to solve real-world problems and impact their bottom line. 

Argiro holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and is an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She recently completed her master’s in Global Fashion Management at FIT with a focus on Web3 and launching fashion brands in the metaverse.

Outline

Session 1: Web3/metaverse overview, key terminology, platforms, software, and concepts and how they apply to the fashion industry.

Session 2: Using Web3 technology to address return rates and increase conversions of online shoppers. 

Session 3: Using Web3 technology for apparel collection development (digital patternmaking and sample development).

Session 4: Using AI and Web3 technologies to design collections, create brand campaigns, enhance customer experiences, and gain insights into your customer’s behavior.

Session 5: Using Web3 technology for authentication, customer retention, and loyalty.
