A Celebration of Native American Heritage Month
The Social Justice Center at FIT and 4Kinship are hosting the 2nd annual celebration of National Native American Heritage Month at FIT. Shop the Native American designer pop-up, enjoy a musical performance by Lucaa, and learn from Indigenous creatives through panel discussions on history, fashion, entrepreneurship, and more.

The Art of Fashion Up-Cycling Exhibition
Visit a curated exhibition celebrating the power of sustainability, creativity, and transformation, hosted by FIT's student-led Sustainability Club. The showcase will feature upcycled, sustainable, and innovative works, including garments, accessories, and visual art.

From the frontlines to fashion
For Veteran's Day, the Social Justice Center at FIT will present captivating stories of African American contributions to the military. Quohnos Mitchell, Marine Corps veteran and seasoned fashion executive (Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld), and Doug Melville, author of Invisible Generals: Rediscovering Family Legacy, and a Quest to Honor America's First Black Generals (2023) and former board executive at luxury group Richemont in Geneva, Switzerland, will participate in a panel discussion moderated by Marketing Communications faculty member Anyitsi Reynolds.

Live Art Duel
Last chance to get tickets before Live Art Duel returns to FIT next week with host Ashley Longshore, the New York-based pop artist and entrepreneur who's been dubbed the "feminist Andy Warhol." Eight talented student artists will transform The John E. Reeves Great Hall into a living gallery, while pouring their bold creativity, fearless imagination, and pure talent into every brushstroke.

From the Rez to the Runway with Christian Allaire
Christian Allaire, senior fashion and style writer at Vogue, will speak about his new memoir, From the Rez to the Runway with FIT History of Art faculty member Natalie Nudell. Growing up on the Nipissing First Nation reserve in Northern Ontario, Allaire wanted to work in the fashion industry, a future that seemed like a remote, and unlikely, dream. He will speak about how he made it a reality, while always remaining true to himself.

The Amazing Race screening with Elise Doganieri
Elise Doganieri, Advertising Design '90, executive producer and co-creator of The Amazing Race, will be on campus for a screening of this season's final episode featuring FIT! The screening will be followed by a conversation about her inspiration for creating the show, how she dreams up challenges, and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into an Emmy Award-winning show.

New York City Urban Fellows
The Urban Fellows Program is a highly selective, nine-month fellowship which combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with volunteer service opportunities and a seminar series that explores current urban issues impacting public policy. Program participants are diverse and come from all over the country to work in New York City.

FIT students, faculty, and alumni celebrated the launch of RE.UNIQLO FIT Collection, LIVE AND LET RE.LIVE, at UNIQLO's 5th avenue flagship location. This collaboration was led by the FIT Dtech Lab and supported by the FIT Foundation.
Three innovative Fashion Design students, Sam Cho, Bridgette Schaeffer, and Nuo Cheng, created an 11-piece collection, while two talented Advertising and Digital Design students, MJ (Minjeong) Park and Andrew Grechko, joined forces with RE.UNIQLO to create the RE.LIVE campaign and website to promote the collection.

Faces and Places in Fashion: Launching a Clean Company

Days.

The opening celebration of The Unwearable Collection, a design collection that illustrates the profound burden of life with generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP).
For the first time, all five pieces of the Collection will be on display—including ‘Trapped by Uncertainty’, a thought-provoking design created by FIT students and faculty that expresses the emotional uncertainty of life with this rare disease.
Showcasing the talents of the Spatial Design department, Fashion and Textile Studies conservators and curatorial assistants, and Special Collections and College Archives, exhibition organizer Karen Trivette and artist Dr. Daria Dorosh seamlessly integrate costume, technology, perfumery, drawings, and material objects to illustrate the multifaceted legacy of FIT.

The FIT Film + Media Screening Series hosted a screening of the documentary, Stonewall Uprising, A True Story of Riot and Rebellion, presented as part of FIT's LGBTQ+ History Month programming.
We had the honor of being joined by community elders and Stonewall veterans from the NYC Edie Windsor Center. Following the screening, directors Katie Davis and David Heilbroner took questions from the audience and had a lively discussion of LGBTQ+ history.
This event was sponsored by the Film and Media Department, the School of Liberal Arts, the FIT Foundation, and the LGBTQ+ Student Alliance.

FIT Alumni joined us at Brooklyn BioBat Art Space for a curator-led tour of Embodied Futures & The Ecology of Care, which featured a bioart installation by alum Lolo Ostia.
Faces and Places in Fashion is a lecture series, class, and forum for prominent fashion professionals to discuss their trade, experience, and perspective on the business. The course is taught by Professor Caroline Gordon, whose experience includes work as a buyer, merchandiser, and sales leader. Lectures are open to the public.
