Phase 2: Development

November 12–February 6

Expectations

Identify and forecast trends into the future, develop scenarios, and ideate within the scenarios. Ideation will generate 10 - 15  future opportunities areas that will be tested later in the phase.

Activities

  • Stakeholder review: Industry; Students, faculty, staff, alumni, community
  • Internal assessment: Assets, capabilities, financial capacity; Independent field research
  • Foresight: Trends Workshop; Scenarios Workshop; Innovation strategy

Deliverables

  • Future scenarios
  • 10 - 15 future opportunity areas for innovation
  • Internal assessment of innovation capacity

Phase 3: Plan Development

February 11–March 29

Expectations

Leverage communities to test/pilot the 10 - 15 future opportunities. Through iterative innovation workshops, research, testing, potentially narrow the list of 10 - 15 future opportunities.

Activities

  • Plan Development: Solution immersion pilots; Committee sessions; FIT community engagement

Deliverables

  • Final 3 - 5 strategic initiatives
  • Committee assignments and workplan
  • Fleshed out initiative implementation plans
  • Community engagement sessions 

Phase 4: Assessment and Final Report

April 1–May 14

Expectations

Build ways to measure the plan's success and communicate the plan to the FIT community.

Activities

  • Outcomes measurement criteria
  • Current baseline
  • Governance model for ongoing assessment
  • Final Report: Assembly, Presentation, Community sharing

  • Assessment criteria for each objective Communication vehicles for FIT community
  • Final Report and Presentation
