This class will provide a brief introduction to the study of fashion using historical examples. Using the FIT Study Collection, participants will be able to examine garments from an array of time periods in order to better understand how the past influences and informs the work of contemporary designers.

Why do we care about Chanel and Dior? This course will look at some of the reasons why designers of the past are still referenced today and highlight examples of other noteworthy figures in fashion. Examples of designer garments and accessories will be included in this lecture/ museum visit program.

Google SketchUp Pro is an easy-to-use 3D modeling program and it’s free! Virtually every industry uses SketchUp for modeling and animating. In this class you will create a floor plan and design a room, including windows, doors, shelves, lamps, and other objects with textures. In addition, the extensive Google library of buildings, objects, and locations will be utilized. Upon completion of this course you will be able to create, animate and display a three-dimensional environment.

Learn the interface, basic tools and the process of drawing buildings and spaces using Revit. In this hands on class you will be taken step by step through the process of drawing a building learning each Revit tool as needed. The course will cover building elements such as walls, columns, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, stairs. You will also learn dimensioning, annotation tools and page setup. Class is PC based.

This course is project-based and builds on all that is learned in Ethical Fashion I. Students design a capsule collection (apparel, accessories, pet accessories, or home) following ethical environmental and social practices. Finally, students present their lines and share their sustainable design philosophies with sketches and inspiration boards.
