Local Food Pantries

The FIT Food Pantry provides students with more immediate resources to fight food insecurity. For students who may have a greater need, we hope you will take a look at local resources. Below are three nearby food pantries. To locate a food pantry or soup kitchen near you, you may use the search tools in Food Bank for New York City and NYC.gov.


Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen
296 Ninth Avenue (between 26 & 28th St)

Mon-Fri 10:30am - 12:30pm, including holidays

Everyone is welcome, without question or qualification. The Soup Kitchen provides a hot, nutritious, well-balanced meal every weekday, including holidays,from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Soup kitchen guests come from all over the five boroughs of New York City, and for many of them, this is the only meal they will eat that day. We have always had an open-door policy—everyone is welcome, without question or qualification.


St. Peters Chelsea - Food Pantry
346 West 20th Street (between 8th & 9th Ave)

St. Peter’s Food Pantry provides emergency food packages to share God’s bounty. Our packages are nutritionally balanced and provide clients with food supplies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We provide 300-450 bags of non-perishable food per week. Each client’s bag usually contains milk; hot or cold cereal; fruit juice; a can or package of fruit; rice or pasta; a can of vegetables; and a can of meat, chicken or fish.


Saint John's Bread of Life Food Pantry

Saint John Bread of Life Food Pantry provides for the physical needs of our poorest neighbors who live in midtown Manhattan between 14th and 59th Streets, from river to river. In addition to groceries, we provide free services through partnerships with local businesses and public authorities, such as flu shots, SNAP application interviews, and clinics on senior citizen benefits. Everyone who wishes to receive food must be registered. Registration occurs during the hours of distribution only. You must bring identification, social benefits card(s), and proof of residence for all the members of your household.
