To help ensure a pleasant experience for all attendees, FIT is pleased to provide information regarding access, logistics, and general instructions for the 2019 Commencement Ceremonies at Radio City Music Hall. We congratulate the Class of 2019, and wish the graduates and their guests a happy and memorable day!
Please remember that students are held to the same expectations and standards outlined in the Code of Conduct. Any individuals who violate these policies will be asked to leave the ceremony.
All graduates are required to wear academic regalia (cap, gown, and tassel). Regalia may be purchased online at Herff Jones. The deadline to purchase regalia was March 31.
We strongly suggest wearing comfortable shoes, since commencement often involves a good deal of standing and walking for both guests and graduates. High heels are discouraged.
Students should bring only cap, gown, and essential personal items or a small handbag that they can keep with them during the ceremony.
Student Arrival Time
Students are expected to arrive at 8:30 am for the morning ceremony and 1:30 pm for the afternoon ceremony.
Student Entry to the Venue
Students should enter through the main doors located under the Radio City Music Hall marquee on Sixth Avenue near the corner of West 50th Street.
Guest Arrival Time
Doors open for guests with admission tickets at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. Tickets will be collected at the door and bags will be searched. No one without a ticket will be admitted. All guests age 2 and older require a ticket. All bags will be checked by security, which will increase wait time.
Guest Entry to the Venue
All guests must enter through Radio City Music Hall side entrances, which are located on West 50th Street and West 51st Street near Sixth Avenue.
Seating is first come, first served, and seats are not reserved. If all members of your party have not yet arrived, please delay entering the venue until your party is together to ensure you will all be seated together.
The morning ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 am. The afternoon ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00 pm.
Graduates and guests should allow up to two hours for the ceremony. We ask that graduates and guests remain in their seats until the degrees are conferred and the event is over.

Prior to the ceremony, choose a location to meet your guests once the event is over. Graduates and guests are encouraged to exit and meet outside Radio City Music Hall.
All events held at Radio City Music Hall are required to comply with the venue’s security regulations.
Novelties (such as balloons) are not allowed in Radio City Music Hall. No food or beverages are allowed.
Please be sure that each guest has a ticket. Tickets will be collected at the door, and no guest will be admitted without one. All guests age 2 and older require a ticket.
Radio City Music Hall personnel will check bags; please do not bring large bags or backpacks. Note: There is no storage for personal belongings. Students should bring only cap, gown, and essential personal items or a small handbag that they can keep with them during the ceremony.
