2017 Hooding Ceremony

Academic Regalia

As this a formal academic recognition event, all platform party participants and graduate students shall wear academic regalia. The graduate students will carry their hoods up to the stage.

Regalia and Ticket Pick Up

  • If you prepaid: Pick up your regalia and tickets at the Graduate School Office, Goodman E315, beginning Monday, May 15. The office will be open 11 am - 6 pm daily. You will receive three tickets to the hooding ceremony and four tickets to commencement. 
  • If you have not prepaid: You can pay for and pick up your regalia and four tickets to commencement at Barnes & Noble at FIT on May 15, 16, or 17, 9 am - 6:30 pm. Pick up three tickets for the hooding ceremony in the Graduate School Office, Goodman E315.

Robing

Students are expected to arrive by 5 pm to robe and line up in the lower level of the Dubinsky Student Center. Entrance is via Barnes & Noble at FIT in the Breezeway. 

Hooding

Within each program and in alphabetical order, graduates will come onto the stage when their names are announced, walk to stage left for hooding, and continue across the stage to return to their seats. The graduates will go up on stage with hood on their right arm. The Dean for the School of Graduate Studies will announce each student’s name and the department chair will place the hood on each graduate (as they face the audience, the hood is placed over the graduate’s head).

Reception

A reception for all in attendance will follow the ceremony in the Breezeway.
