Global Fashion Management
Three continents. Twenty-two months. One international education for emerging fashion executives.
The Global Fashion Management (GFM) Master of Professional Studies graduate program,
offered in collaboration with Institut Français de la Mode in Paris, Centro in Mexico
City, and academic institutions in Asia, will prepare you for top managerial and leadership
positions in the international fashion industry. Interactive and flexible, the course
formats range from lectures and case studies to individual and team projects, presentations
by guest speakers, and site visits.
Program

Global Fashion Management MPS
The program emphasizes leadership, applied creativity, strategic problem-solving,
and analytical thinking—along with effective writing and presentation skills. Coursework
spans production management and supply chain, global marketing and fashion brand management,
culture and international business, corporate finance, politics and world trade, business
policy, global retail management, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Students complete four intensive seminars taught at partner institutions across three
continents. The program is designed to be completed in four semesters.
Graduates are equipped to advance within a range of sectors across the global fashion
industry.

Our students examine business, economic, cultural, creative, and technological trends, all through an international lens.

Winner Hamoor Sekhon, the first graduate student to win the PETE Prize for Entrepreneurs, is a graduate of the Global Fashion Management program and was chosen among ten competing teams.

Global Fashion Management’s master’s program hosted menswear designer Todd Snyder for an engaging conversation and Q&A session with students.

For the Mexico Seminar, FIT students were given the assignment to share their reflections, attitudes, impressions, and ideas on our experience in Oaxaca. GFM Class of 2022 student Zach Mauer shared his thoughts on two topics that were discussed at some length and his plans to incorporate his learnings into his career and his life.

When the lockdown squashed her job search, Fatima Vali pivoted and created Soulitude, masks and accessories made out of upcycled denim.

Opsi, a capstone project by graduating students Emily Foster, Sara Hogan, and Gabriela Maldonado, is a full-service shopping support concept that facilitates online shopping for the blind and visually impaired.

GFM students met in New York and heard Linda Greer, a senior global fellow with Beijing’s Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs, speak about reducing the carbon footprint of factories.

Beyond the Degree
Our alumni lead across the global fashion industry, working in strategic, creative, and operational roles. They represent a wide range of companies—from early-stage ventures to established American icons, like Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany & Co., and PVH, as well as European luxury houses, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Ferragamo.

Learn From the Best
Chaudhry’s recent work has focused on the impact of globalization, problems of state formation and understanding resistance movements through the eyes of nomadic peoples and weavers in Kashmir. He is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities.

Meg Joseph
Joseph is an associate professor in the Department of Global Fashion Management. She previously worked in as director of international marketing for SONY Pictures Home Entertainment. She holds an MBA in marketing and the management of information, communication, and media from Columbia University and has completed doctoral work at the University of Buffalo.
