Advertising and Digital Design prepares students for advertising and design in the digital age. You’ll learn how to create work that sparks conversations and uses storytelling and engagement to shape culture, rather than just reflect it.
Communication Design prepares students for in-depth study of advertising, graphic design, and packaging design. The program focuses on computer technology, typography, color theory, layout design, and conceptual problem solving. Students develop their own styles while studying design principles, theory, and communication skills.
Computer Animation and Interactive Media is the process, used in the entertainment and new media industries, of bringing movement into design through 3D modeling, animation, and the integration of sounds and images. Students study the process of designing computer animation from storyboard concepts, to design and programming, to post-production.
Fabric Styling is the creation of fashion concepts for apparel and home products. Fabric stylists study historic trends; analyze fabric properties, fashion, and design; and present their fabric forecasts to designers, marketers, and salespeople. Through the creation of historic, trend, and presentation boards, students study the big picture behind fashion in order to predict tomorrows best-selling fabric styles.
Fashion Design incorporates the design, development, and creation of apparel products. The program encompasses the conceptual aspects of fashion illustration and computer design along with the skills of draping, patternmaking, and garment construction. Students can specialize in areas such as art, intimate apparel, children's wear, sportswear, and evening wear.
Fine Arts is the study, exploration, development, and mastery of painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and design principles. This studio program utilizes a hands-on approach to the study of materials and their artistic applications. Students analyze the wider role of art in society and develop skills and techniques for personal expression through different mediums.
Graphic Design is the process of communicating effectively with type, color, illustration, and photography. Through the study and design of products such as magazines, posters, websites, annual reports, books, and signage, students develop critical thinking, research, analysis, and presentation skills.
Illustration is the art of communicating through the use of visual imagery. Using paint, chalk, pencil, airbrush, and a variety of computer applications, students are encouraged to experiment in animation, documentary art, book illustration, and portraiture. The program allows students to specialize in either general or fashion illustration.
Interior Design is the creation of environments that enhance the quality of life. Students study interiors in traditional and contemporary styles, and develop concepts through drawing, drafting, construction technology, special planning, lighting design, mechanical systems, and project management.
Jewelry Design is the creation of objects for personal ornamentation. Students study the materials, design, construction, and value of jewelry from both an aesthetic and technical perspective, concentrating on the aesthetics or production of costume and fine jewelry.
Menswear is the creation of a style and sensibility in men's clothing that allows the consumer to define himself through cuts, proportions, and fabrics. The program emphasizes strong technical and artistic approaches through all stages of apparel design, patternmaking, tailoring, and marketing.
Packaging Design is the process of creating both a package and a brand image for products in many categories. From design and package construction to brand development and environmental concerns, students learn the process of designing packages, using form, function, structure, ergonomics, typography, and imagery.
Photography is the creation of images that document history, sell products, and express individual artistic visions. Students learn about camera formats and functions, lens capabilities, lighting techniques, processing, and printing. These traditional skills are interwoven with the leading technologies of digital photography.
Textile/Surface Design is the creation of patterns and prints that cover everything from fabrics to dinnerware. After analyzing the use of color and pattern through drawing, painting, screenprinting, weaving, and computer-aided design, students produce original designs that accentuate a products shape and enhance its value.
Toy Design is conceptualizing, developing, building, and testing toys that enhance the lives of children. The program teaches design, safety, and material use coupled with the study of child development, ergonomics, and ethics. The curriculum includes creating hard and soft toys, kids furniture, outdoor sports equipment, games, and other entertaining and educational products.
Visual Presentation and Exhibit Design is the creation of environments where products and customers interact, such as showrooms, tradeshows, museums, and sets for movies, theater, or television. Students learn to skillfully combine graphic and studio design with rendering and computer modeling to produce computer layouts, two-and three-dimensional presentation boards, and exhibit installations.
