Cross-Pollination: ¡Moda Hoy! at Museo Franz Mayer

December 2025 – January 2026

Cross-Pollination: ¡Moda Hoy!  was The Museum at FIT’s 10th collaborative workshop in which students and faculty from IBERO Mexico City collaborated with curators and educators from The Museum at FIT and the Museo Franz Mayer. Twelve sixth-semester and seventh-semester Bachelor's Degree students studying Fashion Design and Sustainable Textiles at IBERO developed original pieces based on the exhibition ¡Moda Hoy! Diseño Latinoamericanx y Latinx contemporáneo, which was on view at Museo Franz Mayer from December 2025-April 2026, and originated at The Museum at FIT in 2023.

The student works were the result of in-classroom reflection on the exhibition themes that most resonated with the participants. Garments integrated themes such as elegance and politics, gender and Indigenous Heritage, or art and popular culture, in turn highlighting a spectrum of perspectives that are as wide ranging as the Latin American territory that inspired them. The garments showcased how Latin American and its Latinx diaspora transform contemporary fashion today.
