Sample text: If we think of power in terms of kinetic force (for example, electrical power or a person’s physical power over another), clearly an inanimate item of clothing does not have actual power. The force of fashion is symbolic. It is social. It lies in the sphere of interpersonal relations and cultural dynamics. There is no single, universally accepted definition of power. Power means different things to different people at different times. As such, its connection to fashion is multifaceted, and a multifaceted approach is necessary for considering the role fashion plays in power dynamics both historically and today.

Sample text: This exhibition was a comprehensive exploration of the symbiotic relationship
between the world of fashion and fine art. Featuring more than 140 objects, including
garments, accessories, textiles, photographs, and original artworks drawn from MFIT's
permanent collection, Art X Fashion challenged the traditional hierarchies of visual culture, presenting fashion and
art each as parallel, potent expressions of social, intellectual, and creative forces.
Curated by Dr. Elizabeth Way, curator of costume and accessories at MFIT, the exhibition
reflected MFIT's mission to advance the understanding and appreciation of fashion's
critical role in culture.

The Invisible Art of Dressing an Exhibition | Museum Club
Fashion and textile conservator Callie O'Connor's work is often invisible, and this is on purpose. The assistant conservator at The Museum at FIT takes us through three examples of the undergarments and mounts that offer custom-made (and very discreet) support for the objects dressed in the museum's Art X Fashion exhibition.

Where Every Body Hangs Out: Inside MFIT's Mannequin Storage Room | Museum Club
Conservator Callie O'Connor walks Museum Club through The Museum at FIT's storage room, where the mannequins and dress forms are stored between shows. The room houses mannequins from several decades, each representing the "fashionable body" of that time period. "The body plays as much of a part in your interpretation and understanding of the fashion as the clothing does itself," O'Connor explains.
