The Museum at FIT celebrates a century’s worth of fashion greats in the latest edition of Fashion Designers A-Z: The Collection of the Museum at FIT.
Formerly available as a limited Collector’s Edition only, this new affordable, hardcover edition is updated and features over 600 pages that distill the unique philosophy and aesthetics of each of the featured designers.
With more than 500 photographs of garments from the museum’s permanent collection, each piece is chosen not only for its beauty but for its representative value. Throughout the book, the museum’s curators explain why each designer is important in fashion history and the special characteristics of the selected garments.
The previous Collector’s Editions of Fashion Designers A-Z were notable for having unique fabric covers created by six designers. Each edition (a total of 11,000 copies) was bound in a fabric created by one of the following designers—Akris, Etro, Stella McCartney, Missoni, Prada, and Diane von Furstenberg—and presented in a special Plexiglass case.
The new 2016 edition of Fashion Designers A-Z: The Collection of the Museum at FIT makes a significant museum publication available to a wider audience.
