Serena Lo to Receive Pomeranz Scholarship
FIT's International Trade and Marketing program is proud to announce that Serena Lo was selected from an exceptional and extensive pool of applicants as the fifth recipient
of the Jacqueline and Russell Pomeranz ITM scholarship.
Lo uniquely impressed the selection committee with her leadership and communication skills. As someone who grew up running and biking, she remembered her spring break in fifth grade, when she rode 267 miles from Yuma, Arizona to Moonlight Beach in the local YMCA’s Ride Across California. As someone who regularly biked over 300 miles, she personifies the Pomeranzes’ athleticism, as well as aspiring to continue the honorees’ legacy to live a full life of diverse experiences while significantly impacting the community.
Lo is currently fabric intern at BCI Brands, where she was involved in project management among several roles. Among her dozens of volunteer activities are the Designed to Deliver: The 2023 ITM Forum, the 35th Apparel Importers Trade & Transportation Conference sponsored by ITM and USFIA, and NYFW EDGE: The Future of Fashion Tech for Laurenti. Lo is a member of the International Trade Student Association and aspires to be on its executive board going forward.
Before attending FIT, Lo was a student at Marymount Manhattan College, where she was a Student Development and Activities Leadership Development Intern; in this role she helped organize and present campuswide "Lessons on Leadership" events. She also served as a Peer Leader for first-year students throughout their transition to college and New York City living. She directed and filmed as a Film Intern.
In addition to all of her extensive current activities, Lo served on the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team, benefited from the California Scholarship Federation 2021, was a student panelist at the Marymount Manhattan College Honors Day 2022, and earned the Inside LVMH Certificate with specialization in operations & supply chain, retail & customer experience.
After graduating from FIT, Lo plans to pursue a career in supply chain management as a jewelry wholesaler/importer, logistics manager, or an international trade compliance specialist. As an Ethics and Sustainability minor student, she hopes to intersect this discipline with economics to promote "ethical practices and greater provenance transparency."
About the Scholarship
The Jacqueline and Russell Pomeranz ITM Scholarship was established by the Pomeranz family in honor of their beloved mother and husband/brother.
The scholarship selection committee included ITM advisory board member, Elizabeth Hodur (ITM '92), assistant vice president of the Knitwell Group, and Lauren Petrovic (ITM '34), founder and CEO of Laurenti New York.
