Science + math = formula for success
Studying science and math is about more than test tubes and equations. It expands your thinking, helps develop your analytical skills, and deepens your understanding of the world around you. In FIT's science and math courses, you gain knowledge you can use in your everyday life and also in your profession. You can examine the role of color and light in fashion, explore the relevance of geometry in design, and apply mathematical principles to solve business problems.
The Department of Science and Mathematics includes Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics, and offers survey courses and more advanced studies in specific areas. Independent study is also offered.
All students must take one credit-bearing science course. To fulfill the requirement, you may choose from:
- Introduction to Biological Sciences
- Field Biology
- Ecology and Environmental Problems
- Introduction to Physical Sciences
- Environmental Science
- Earth Science
- Color and Light
All students must take one credit-bearing math course. The required course varies by major.
Proficiency in arithmetic is a requirement for the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and is a prerequisite for science courses and for mathematics survey courses and Statistics.
