Confirmed Housing

The information on this page is for new/entering FIT students who have confirmation that they are receiving on-campus housing.

If you receive confirmation that you will be living on campus, you may enter the selection process for roommates and room types.  The selection process auto assigns the earliest applicants a date and time to choose a room type and roommate(s). You will NOT be able to choose a wait listed applicant as a roommate.

Step 3: Roommate Selection

June 1, 2022 at 10AM EST roommate selection begins for those students selected for the housing lottery. For an overview of this process you may refer to this powerpoint about roommate selection. If you selected gender inclusive housing, your potential roommates must have also selected this option for you both to be able to match. Please note that you would select “Fall 2022” on slide 7.

You will NOT be able to choose a wait listed applicant as a roommate. If you have a specific roommate in mind and you’re unable to find them in the roommate matching system, it is likely because you each chose different answers for the Gender Inclusive Housing option. You both must either opt-in or opt-out of Gender Inclusive Housing. Please see the Housing Application FAQ for instructions on how to change your answer.

Don't have a roommate? Check out the Advanced Roommate Search on MyHousing.

Step 4: Speciality Housing Selection

June 6, 2022 at 10AM to June 15, 2022 at 5PM roommate groups may express interest or sign up for a speciality housing and Living Learning Communities.

Residents living in this community will have a unique opportunity to be a part of the foundational planning to build onto FIT’s first urban edible garden located in the courtyard behind Alumni, Nagler and Coed hall. This community's focus will be directly tied to the sustainable impacts of urban gardening, and community wellbeing pertaining to positive physical and mental health benefits of this initiative.

Transfer Student Community

Transfer students have different needs to get acclimated to FIT and this living community will ensure they are housed with students who have similar needs to be successful transitioning into our institution. Students in this community will have curricular approach programming designed to address common challenges transfer students experience in their first year at a new institution.

Gender Inclusive Communal Bathrooms

CoEd Traditional Rooms - Floor 9

The Gender Inclusive Bathroom floor would consist of double traditional rooms with a gender inclusive communal bathroom. Quiet Community

Nagler Traditional Rooms - Floor 10 and CoEd Traditional Rooms - Floor 8

The Quiet Community is designed to provide residents with a reduced noise environment. The quiet floor observes 24-hour quiet hours year-round. Residents on this floor understand that all noise (music, television, speech, etc.) must be maintained at a level agreed upon as a community. Students who live in this area who violate quiet hours may be asked to move out of the community.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Various rooms in CoEd, Nagler, Alumni

Gender inclusive housing refers to rooms where people of any sex or gender identity can room together. In order to promote diversity in our campus and foster understanding of different identities in our society, we must have residence hall options that are inclusive and accepting to all students. By implementing this policy, we are able to provide a living environment that supports not only transgender students but also students who prefer to live with a roommate of another gender for any reason. For more information please visit Gender Inclusive Housing

Step 5: Select Your Room Type

Dates: June 22, 2022 through June 27, 2022

You will receive an email with your selection date and time by 5PM on June 17, 2022. You will be able to view available accommodations beginning on June 22, 2022, but you will not be able to choose an accommodation until your assigned selection date and time.

It is recommended that you select a room type as soon as you are able. Residential Life will randomly assign a space and roommate(s) to anyone who does not select a room type by June 28 at 9 am.

Remember: you are only selecting a room type, not an actual room number or floor.
