Job Submission Options:

Online Ordering 
Available for FIT's current students and employees only. Please visit our Online Ordering page for details. FIT departments--please drop off jobs at PrintFX's service desk, Pomerantz Center, D529A.


Service Desk Ordering (Pomerantz Center, D529A)

Forms: Complete an order form for the service you need.
File/Copy Sizes: Be sure your files are sized, proofed and ready to go! Print files can only be enlarged or reduced ('Resize To Fit' option on forms) to fit the paper size of your choosing. Copies can be resized.
FIT Community: Services available for FIT's current students and employees only
Alumni: Job acceptance contingent on staff approval and proof of alumni status; 25% surcharge; job must be prepaid in full before start of job; 2-3 day turnaround; no commercial work

 

Departmental jobs
Forms:Download a Print, Copy, Bookbinding or Design order form or pick one up at PrintFX, Pomerantz Center, D529A.
File/Copy sizes: Be sure your files are sized, proofed and ready to go! When creating large posters, use larger images with higher resolutions. A 4x6 image from the web (72dpi) will not make a good 18x24 poster.  PrintFX is not responsible for client mistakes. If you want us to change the document size, we can only enlarge or reduce to fit the paper size you choose ('Resize to Fit' option on forms).
Design jobs: Complete a Design Order form. For designing assistance, please contact the PrintFX coordinator, Jasper Lin, who will arrange a consultation with our staff graphic designer.
Payment: Budget-to-budget transfer process available. Submit both the 'PrintFX Supplies Reimbursement' signed form & order form at time of drop-off. After the job is completed, PrintFX will submit this form to Accounting and they will transfer the cost of your job from your budget into PrintFX's budget.
Scanning and trimming services: Available in PrintFX's self service area, free of charge on a first come, first serve basis.
High volume print/copy jobs: Maxiumum 50 copies/prints. Please use the FIT Print Shop for amounts over 50.
Orientations: Available by appointment only for instructors and their classes. Please submit an Orientation Request Form at least 24 hours in advance.


Fonts & Images:
For Adobe Illustrator, please outline fonts and embed or give us your linked images. PrintFX supports the FIT font library.

Resolution:

300dpi.

Color Management:

RGB: Use the Adobe RGB 1998 and RGB color mode for everything--not CMYK! To set up your entire Adobe Suite with the Adobe RGB 1998 colorspace, go to Adobe Bridge>Edit>Creative suite color settings>North American Prepress 2>Apply.
Color accuracy: If printing using inkjet sheets/posters and specialty media, please use our self-service area's color calibrated monitor to softproof your files (instructions provided) using our ICC profiles.  Softproofing provides a close preview (softproof) of how your print will look after being printed on PrintFX's printers.

File Formats:

We accept JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PSD, AI, PDF, PNG file formats. Please convert all AutoCad, Microsoft and Adobe Indesign applications to pdf.

Payment:
PrintFX accepts funds from student, staff or faculty e-accounts. There are two options to add these funds: The first is to use your FIT Campus Card at the PHil stations located on the 5th floor of the Goodman Resource Center Library or the Feldman Center, CC15. These PHil stations accept $1, $5, $10, $20 bills and coins are not accepted. The second option is using the campus card online portal, accessible by any workstation on or off campus. Enter by logging into "MyFIT"  https://myfit.fitnyc.edu, click on the "Announcements & Web Resources" tab, go to the "FIT Campus Card" link and follow the easy screen prompts. Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted. Payment due at time of pickup. Alumni jobs payment due at time of drop off. Unpaid jobs left at PrintFX 3 weeks or longer will have a hold placed on their account.
