The Textile Toolbox Exhibition
June 8 - 19, 2015
Pomerantz Art and Design Center
The Textile Toolbox exhibition was linked to the Textiles Environment Design (TED) web platform for MISTRA Future Fashion. The research from the MISTRA project aims to create systemic and profitable change within the fashion industry through interconnected design thinking and processes for sustainable textiles and fashion. The exhibition ran from June 8 to 19, 2015, and was on view during FIT's Summer Institute Sustainability and Textiles conference.
The exhibition highlighted TED's set of sustainable design strategies for innovative sustainability thinking and action, known as The TEN. They form the basis of the TED design brief, with products built around them that seek to make improvements by design. The ten new prototypes or provocative prototypes, are intended to provoke debate and lead to change. This thinking framework maps the sustainable design landscape. The TED ten strategies are in card form, and are used to inspire and drive research and development. In this exhibition, a lead strategy card is used to create a hand of other cards, to inspire a holistic approach.
