Create animated content for the web. Explore career possibilities including being an animator, storyboard artist, creative or technical director, or effect artist.

HGD 174 2-D Animation Using Adobe Photoshop and After-Effects (Level 1)
Used in producing animated .gifs for the web and movies, Adobe Photoshop is the software used by industry to create two-dimensional animations and to set up files to be animated in After-Effects. You'll learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop for the first few days and then transition to After-Effects to ultimately produce your own animations, text animations, and several other projects that may be used for portfolio submissions.  Gallery

HGD 175 2-D Animation Using Adobe After-Effects (Level 2)
Prerequisites: HGD 174*
Used in producing television commercials, film credits, and web animations, Adobe After-Effects is software used by industry to create two-dimensional animations. You'll produce your own 30 second narrative animation, text animations, and several other projects that may be used for portfolio submissions. Basic Adobe Photoshop knowledge required.  Gallery

*To waive the prerequisite for HGD 175, you may email precollegeprograms@fitnyc.edu and state that you are familiar with the following: 
"I am familiar with the following basic skills in Adobe Photoshop: 
1. Basic layer management (moving a layer up or down in the layer window)
2. Basic use of the lasso tool
3. Basic use of the text tool (picking a font and or a color for the text)"
