Policy No: EM014
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT or the College) will provide qualified students with a disability the opportunity to learn in a non-discriminatory environment, commensurate to their chosen educational goals. Appropriate academic, housing and dining hall accommodations are determined, after the student provides the Office of Disability Support Services with the requested documentation and an intake meeting is set up between the student and the coordinator. Accommodations are on an individual, case-by-case, course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis, and in accordance with Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Disabilities that may need accommodations can include learning, physical, sensory, psychological, medical, and certain temporary disabilities. A diagnosis of a disorder or submission of documentation does not automatically qualify an individual for accommodations.
