Ten FIT Students Awarded FIT/SUNYWorks Scholarships for Summer Interns

Ten students from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) received SUNYWorks Internship Scholarships of $1,000 each through a program administered by FIT and SUNYWorks, a cooperative education and internship program of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, of which FIT is a part. SUNYWorks receives support, in part, from a grant from Lumina Foundation, the nations largest private foundation focused solely on increasing Americans success in higher education. The program, which is administered at FIT through the colleges Career and Internship Center, is designed to enhance students experiential education experiences.

SUNYWorks Internship Scholarships are awarded based on financial and professional need, and are intended to offset some of the costs of doing an unpaid internship for which students receive credit. Students applied for the scholarships in spring 2014 by submitting an information packet and an essay about how the internship and the scholarship would advance their professional and personal goals.

Scholarships were awarded to the following FIT students:

  • Jocelyn Bula, Advertising and Marketing Communications, iConcept Media
  • Patrick Ching, Fashion Merchandising Management, Zegna
  • Valerie Councill, Fashion Merchandising Management, Diesel USA
  • Mollie Flinton, Advertising and Marketing Communications, Cannon Style
  • Delina Oliveira, Fashion Merchandising Management, Flo Societa
  • Tahlia Prindle, Fashion Merchandising Management, A Peace Treaty
  • Adrianne Rios, Fashion Merchandising Management, Alexander Wang
  • Yocheved Sacks, Fashion Merchandising Management, Nylon Magazine
  • Melanie Salazar, Fashion Merchandising Management, Marubeni
  • Boyd Sloan, Fashion Merchandising Management, Alexander McQueen
