FIT Students Hold Day of Community Service

FIT students will cap the colleges four days of Homecoming events with a day of community service working with such organizations as Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), the Partnership for the Homeless, Baby Buggy, Visiting Neighbors, the Penn South Center for Seniors, and KEEN, a provider of recreational opportunities for disabled children and young adults.

Sunday, November 4

11 am: Welcome by Erik Kneubuehl, FIT assistant vice president and
dean of Student Services, in Breezeway between Dubinsky Center and Business and Liberal Arts Center  

11:30 am: 300 student volunteers for community services will begin activities in FIT's John E. Reeves Great Hall, 28th St. and Seventh Ave.

  • Collecting items for Baby Buggy
  • Creating tote bags for Haiti relief
  • Decorating messenger bags for the Partnership for the Homeless
  • Making cards for homebound seniors to be delivered that day with the assistance of Visiting Neighbors
  • Making cards for seniors in the Penn South Center for Seniors
Noon: Approximately 50 students will go to FIT's Lari and Barbara

Stanton Fitness Center to partner with a disabled athlete from KEEN for an afternoon of recreation
