212 217.4700 or [email protected]The Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and Shakespeare & Co. Booksellers are hosting an evening of conversation between two economic titans: Joseph Stiglitz and Paul Krugman. In a dialogue moderated by INET Executive Director Robert A. Johnson, the two Nobel Prize winners will address the stresses present in the dysfunctional U.S. economy and how society can put itself back on track. Stiglitz and Krugman will focus on the concepts of crisis and repair as seen through the lenses of inequality and fiscal balance. Coming just two weeks before election night, this promises to be a historic and riveting occasion.
This conversation is presented as part of FIT's annual Fashion and Finance Forum, in which academic and industry leaders discuss important economic, finance, or fashion-related issues. FIT president, Dr. Joyce F. Brown, and SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher will welcome and introduce discussion participants. FIT trustee, Beverly Mack, director of Walnut Street Securities Inc., will close the event.
The event will be held on Tuesday, October 23, at 7:00 pm, at FIT's Haft Auditorium. Premium tickets are $50 and include hardcover copies of the books The Price of Inequality by Joseph Stiglitz and End This Depression Now by Paul Krugman. Standard tickets, which exclude the books, cost $25.
