Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services Continued 

Lana Bittman

Lana Bittman, Assistant Professor-Librarian, Head of Electronic and Serials Resources
Lana joined the library in 2008. She oversees the Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services unit, supervising all aspects of public and technical services for electronic resources, print serials, and fashion and trend forecast collections. Lana holds an MLIS from Rutgers University and a BA in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to FIT, she has worked as a librarian at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and at the City University of New York. Lana is currently working toward an MA in FIT's Fashion and Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice program.

 no photo Karl ("Kip") Baranoff, Adjunct Assistant Professor-Librarian, Acquisitions and Metadata Services
Kip joined the library in 2005. He catalogs print and non-print materials for the FIT Library. He also provides reference service to students, faculty and visitors at the Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services desk. Kip holds a BA in Music from Indiana University, an MA of Music from Temple University, as well as a MS from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois. He has worked at the Ryerson Library at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pratt Institute Library, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Kip is an avid world traveler and student of foreign languages.

Anne joined the library in 2011. She assists patrons at the desks in both the Periodicals Department and the Access Services Department, processes materials including the historical forecast collection, maintains the Periodicals Department’s research guides, and assists with the digitization of the Designer Files. Anne holds both an AAS degree in fashion illustration and a BFA in illustration from FIT. She also has experience as an assistant draftsperson for an engineering firm and as a private art teacher. When she’s not at the library, Anne works as a freelance illustrator creating children's illustrations and writing. She enjoys spending time in children's book stores, coffee shops, reading and doodling in her free time.
PERS member Eileen Flannigan, Library Analyst, Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services
Eileen joined the library in 1999. Under the supervision of Lana Bittman, Head of Electronic and Serials Resources, she oversees the daily operations of the unit. Eileen participates in library wide committees, facilitates special projects and initiates outreach regarding gifts. She holds an AS from the FIT's Advertising and Communication department and a BA in communications from William Paterson University. Eileen has also worked as an event planner, writer, producer and deejay.

Madeleine joined the library in 2007. She processes and tracks subscriptions, maintains serials holdings, and provides customer support. Madeleine received her BA in English literature from the University of Toronto, her MA in journalism from Emerson College, and an AAS in illustration from FIT.

Denise joined the library in 1989. She assists patrons at the front desk, trains work study students and processes gifts. Denise has a FIT Millinery certificate and has taken several of FIT's courses in draping techniques. She has worked in management at Bergdorf Goodman, where she supervised and trained part-time and full-time staff. Denise also worked at NYU as Senior Secretary to the Director of Undergraduate Placement and at FIT Educational Foundation under the direction of Shirley Goodman. Personal interests include:  travel, ballet, opera, movies, plays, fashion design, millinery, ice skating, and choir.

Beth joined the library in 1997. Beth assists patrons at desks in both the Periodicals and Research and Instructional Services. Her work in Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services unit includes advising on the library's holdings of international fashion, textile, interiors, and art periodicals; she was an early champion of historical fashion forecasting materials, encouraging their collection and retention. Beth contributes to the library's social media presence and writes for the library blog "Volumes and Issues". She holds a BS from Bowling Green State University of Ohio, and an AA in fashion design at the FIT. After working in the fashion industry, Elizabeth returned to FIT to obtain an MA from the Museum Studies: Fashion and Textiles program. Since 2006, she has been working on her PhD at Bard Graduate Center. Beth has taught in the Graduate Division at FIT and at Berkeley College.

Carlos Taylor, Cataloging Assistant, Periodicals and Electronic Resource Services
Carlos joined the library in 2014. He assists with daily operations of the unit including working with patrons at the service desk, serial record maintenance, bindery preparation and departmental metadata services. Carlos is currently enrolled in the Communication and Design Program at Fashion Institute of Technology. Carlos has worked extensively in fashion and publishing.

Monica joined the library in 1999. She assists patrons at the front desk and processes materials including new and historical periodicals, look books, and donations. Monica is a graduate of FIT's Visual and Presentation Exhibition Design Program. She has experience working in the music industry for both major and independent record companies and as producer of live events. In her spare time, Monica is the co-host/co-producer for internet radio show Musical Pathways in addition to hosting a live music showcase, the Rendezvous.
