QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements are a Master’s degree and NYS license in a
mental health discipline, and 3-5 years postgraduate clinical experience.
Practical experience in college counseling, program development, group
counseling, alcohol and other drugs [AOD], eating disorders, and wellness
initiatives strongly preferred. Certification in substance abuse counseling,
specialization in eating disorders, and facility with a second language
preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Counseling Center seeks a full-time counselor
to provide direct clinical services and psycho educational programs to a diverse
student population including those with special needs. Responsibilities include
short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, assessment and
referral, prevention programming, and retention outreach initiatives. Additional
duties include student advocacy, consultative services to the college community,
and related faculty tasks as needed. Candidate must demonstrate competence in
providing effective interventions to a culturally diverse young adult
population.
