The Fashion Institute of Technology invites applications and nominations for the
position of Coordinator/Instructional Designer for the Center for Excellence in
Teaching (CET).
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in an appropriate discipline and three years working
in higher education instructional design and/or a technology-related area.
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in the integration of technology in
education. Strong knowledge of web and network-based tools and learning systems
with a demonstrated ability in applying technology to improve college-level
teaching and learning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the
ability to work collaboratively in a higher education setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Coordinator will provide technological expertise for the CET with regard to
teaching and learning. The Coordinator reports to the Director of Faculty
Development/CET. Specific responsibilities include:
- Assist and support FIT faculty in understanding and using the tools and
best-practice strategies to develop technology-based curricula, programs,
courses and collaborations. Assist faculty in the use of the FIT course
management system.
- Promote, develop, and conduct faculty training in large and small groups,
targeting the innovative uses of new technologies in teaching and learning.
Analyze, evaluate and assess training, CMS usage, and specific needs on campus.
- Research, design, and develop instructional products such as tutorials and
training manuals that support a variety of delivery methods. Identify and
organize web and multi-media resources for faculty and provide distance support
when needed. Analyze and assess new computer systems and participate in their
implementation.
- Participate in special CET-led projects and SUNY events and provide relevant
periodic reports. Provide needs analysis and help insure the ongoing operation
and upgrade of the CET.
