REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
ALA accredited MLS; Minimum two years of professional experience in reference and instruction in an academic library; potential for leadership in a collaborative setting; positive attitude and effective communication and teaching skills; enthusiasm for an innovative and changing environment; interest in online instructional methods and tools to enhance all forms of library instruction and services. Familiarity with a variety of teaching methods including synchronous and asynchronous, learning styles, instructional technology, and instructional assessment. Knowledge of information literacy concepts, trends, standards, pedagogies with experience in conducting formal assessment of programs, instruction, and educational outcomes. Excellent interpersonal, computer, presentation and written communication skills. Expected to develop expertise in emerging technologies and to lead or participate in innovative library projects.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Conference presentations, publications and involvement in professional organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The librarian oversees user education, access and outreach initiatives. Reports to the Library Director and is a member of the Library’s Public Services Group. Develops, manages and promotes library instruction, information literacy and assessment initiatives. Coordinates scheduling of instruction; conducts classroom presentations; and leads orientations for new students. Collaborates with the Head of Reference on professional training programs for library faculty and staff, instructing on current research tools and customer service procedures. Develops print and electronic instructional and promotional resources and Web-based tutorials. Participates in both onsite and remote Services at the Reference Desk. Collaborates with the Center for Excellence in Teaching to promote faculty awareness of library resources. Participates in collection development and seeks involvement in collaborative projects related to these duties. Participates in library governance and campus-wide initiatives and committees.

This is a calendar year position, twenty-two hours per week including some weekends and evenings. Shares staff with Reference. Salary is commensurate with the candidate's experience and professional achievements.
