Graduate Admissions

For general admission inquiries, please use the School of Graduate Studies Office of Admissions inquiry form.

Online applications may be submitted beginning each year online starting October 15 for fall entry. There is no spring entry.

Please note the priority application deadlines for each program below:

February 15
Fashion & Textile Studies: History, Theory, Museum Practice
Global Fashion Management MPS

Art Market Studies
Illustration MFA

Applications completed after the dates noted above will be evaluated as space permits. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

General Admissions Requirements

  • Essay
  • Curriculum Vitae / Resume
    Upload a copy of your current CV/ Resume.
  • Transcripts
    Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Transcripts may be uploaded with your application (these are considered unofficial transcripts). If you are offered admission, official transcripts in its original sealed envelope must be sent to our offices.
    • FIT will accept electronic transcripts from the following approved vendors:
      • Parchment
      • Naviance by Hobson
      • Credential Solutions
  • Letters of Recommendation
    Letters of recommendation, from academic and professional sources must be submitted as indicated on the application form.
  • English Language Proficiency Scores
    Applicants who do not hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university where English is the primary language of instruction, must take either The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System(IELTS). TOEFL and IELTS scores must be sent to the School of Graduate Studies directly from the testing agency.

    For TOEFL test takers - FIT's institution code is 2257; department code 99.

    Our most competitive candidates have a minimum TOEFL score of 80, and a minimum IELTS band score of 6.5. Should your scores fall below the minimums above, you are strongly encouraged to retake the exam.
