The FAFSA Application for 2019 -2020 is available October 1, 2018

January 15, 2019 is the FIT Priority Deadline for the 2019-2020 Academic Year

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid  (FAFSA) for the 2019-2020 academic year is now available.  Both the student and a parent will need and FSA ID number and their 2017 income tax information to complete the student's application.  You can download a FAFSA Worksheet first to help you see and prepare for the application.

SUNY FInancial Aid Day - November 17, 2018

FIT will be hosting one of SUNY's Financial Aid Day Sessions on Saturday, November 17, 2018. This session is designed to answer your questions and provide assistance with your FAFSA application for 2019-2020. To register for this event go to SUNY Financial Aid Days.

Please bring both the parent and student FSA ID numbers and 2017 Tax Information if you are attending the "Hands-On" Sessions.

Direct Loan Exit Counseling for Fall 2018

Exit counseling is required when you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment. At FIT you must be enrolled in at least 6 credits in your degree program to be considered half-time for Direct Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, and Graduate PLUS Loans.

If you are graduating or leaving FIT in Fall 2018 you may make a reservation for an in-person exit counseling session.  Your reservation will allow our loan team will prepare a personalized package for you when you attend the session. To see the schedule go to Exit Counseling Sessions.

You may also complete your exit counseling online at StudentLoans.gov. If you have any questions regarding your loans, you may contact our loan team at FITLoans@fitnyc.edu.

Excelsior Scholarship

The Excelsior Scholarship application for the 2018-2019 academic year has passed. For more specific information regarding your eligibility and the requirements you need to apply you can go to our State Grants page.  In addition, you can go to the Excelsior Scholarship page on the HESC website.

Direct Loan Entrance Counseling for Fall 2018

First-time borrowers of Direct Stafford Loans at FIT are required to participate in an Entrance Counseling Session and complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) before your loan(s) will disburse into your FIT account. 

If you were unable to attend any of the in-person sessions that Financial Aid Services hosted at the beginning of the semester, you can still complete BOTH requirements online at StudentLoans.gov
